She's sort of screwed herself
I think she also did a "I'm Chinese, not American" when, in fact, she's an American by culture but she romanticized her family heritage and sold out. The Chinese government meanwhile is thinking strategically, we outta win a few medals if we host this and sweet talked her into it. Now that she's F'ed up, but she's given up her US citizenship, they were probably going to cut her off anyway after the Olympics but are now probably particularly pissed . she's really screwed herself. Well, her dad's there too at a prestigious job but she's never going to speak Chinese well nor know or even care about the culture, she'll always be an outsider.
Also kinda wondering about the dad now, "award winning" AI person in California takes a job in Peking U. Was he that guy who's placed to collect information on the subject and send it back to the homeland? Are the two related?
